Butterball LLC, Garner, N.C., is introducing two “better for you” turkey products—Fresh Ground Turkey in chub packages and Premium Turkey Franks.
The Fresh Ground Turkey—which Butterball states has 50 percent less fat than ground beef—is available in one-pound packages in three varieties: All Natural 93-Percent Lean, All Natural 85-Percent Lean and Seasoned 91-Percent Lean.
Premium Turkey Franks, which are sold in one-pound packages, have 33 percent less fat than beef franks, zero trans fat and no fillers or artificial colors, the company reports.
The franks are available in three varieties: Premium Turkey, Premium Bun Size Turkey and Premium Jumbo Turkey.
Sara Lee Corp., Downers Grove, Ill., is introducing Jimmy Dean-branded Jimmy D’s breakfasts, a line of frozen breakfast items that feature turkey sausage.
Tyson Foods Inc., Springdale, Ark., is marketing Tyson Rotisserie Bakes, a new product line that is designed to enable deli operators to increase margins and control shrink by assembling second meals with their excess cooked rotisserie chicken.
Once assembled, Rotisserie Bakes allow retailers to either cook the meals to sell hot, or package the foods for cold grab-and-go sales.
Each meal features hand-pulled rotisserie chicken along with sauces and ingredients. Sauce varieties include Classic Pot Pie Chicken Bake, Creamy Enchilada Chicken Bake and Bacon Alfredo Chicken Bake.
The baked entrées are intended to appeal to consumers’ love of comfort food and convenience, the company notes.
Sadler’s Smokehouse Ltd., Frisco, Texas, is adding Pulled Pork with Baked Beans and Shredded Beef Brisket with Macaroni to its Dinner for Two product line.
The 20-ounce, fully cooked, ready-to-heat Dinner for Two meals pair pit-smoked barbeque with a classic side dish and are intended for one- and two-person households. The suggested retail price is $5.99 to $6.99.
Other Dinner for Two combinations include Sliced Beef Brisket with Home Style Mashed Potatoes and Country Style Riblets with White Cheddar Mashed Potatoes.
Cargill Meat Solutions Corp., Wichita, Kan., is rolling out Grantwood Meats, a beef brand that is intended to meet consumer demand for more convenient packaging.
Bar-S Foods Co., Phoenix, is introducing a 2.5-pound Black Forest Ham.
Positioned as an everyday whole ham that can be sliced thin for sandwiches, salads and omelets, or served as a main course, the Black Forest ham is smoked and has a tender texture.
Other new Bar-S products include 1.5-pound packages of Deli Corn Dogs that feature eight dogs with a sweet and honey-flavored batter, and one-pound packages of Beef Jumbo Jumbos Franks and Classic Jumbo Jumbos Franks.
The new frank products, which feature four franks to a pack and are designed for single households or small families, are intended to compliment Bar-S’ three-pound Beef Jumbo Jumbos Franks and five-pound Classic Jumbo Jumbos Franks.
Publix Super Markets Inc., Lakeland, Fla., will be merchandising new ready-to-eat Publix Deli Kids Meals beginning July 29.
The five selections will each consist of an entrée, two sides and a drink and sell for $3.99. The items are made and packaged fresh daily in stores' deli departments and are intended to be balanced, wholesome and nutritious. Offerings include:
*Chicken Tenders-Publix Deli-branded chicken tenders on a honey wheat roll, mini carrots, kid's yogurt and a fruit drink.
*Ham Sandwich Thins-Publix tavern ham on a wheat sandwich thin, mini carrots, kid's yogurt and apple juice.
*Peanut Butter Apple Wrap-creamy peanut butter with apples in a multigrain wrap, kid's yogurt and a fruit drink.
*Peanut Butter Rolls-creamy peanut butter on a honey wheat roll, string cheese, apple sauce, mini carrots and a fruit drink.
*Turkey Rolls-Publix oven roasted turkey breast on a honey wheat roll, apple and grape packet, mini raisins and organic white milk.
Gold’n Plump Poultry Inc., St. Cloud, Minn., is adding six products to its line of Recipe Ready Ground Chicken.
The new items, which will be available this fall in 16-ounce packages, include two spaghetti-ground products for the fresh meat case and two value-priced chubs for both the fresh and frozen meat cases.
Variations include 90-percent lean selections in both tray-packs and chubs; 95-percent lean chicken in tray-packs; and 93-percent lean chubs.
The packages clearly identify the fat-to-lean content and also feature popular meal suggestions.
Marketing support includes point-of-sale materials, such as shelf-talkers and recipe brochures. Free-standing inserts, in-store demos and cross-promotional on-pack coupons also are planned.
Suggested retail prices for the new products range from $2.99 to $3.99.
Catelli Brothers Inc., Collingswood, N.J., is introducing five types of burgers.
Selections include all-natural Choice Veal; all-natural Choice Lamb; Meatloaf, which features a blend of ground beef, pork and veal; 85-percent lean Gourmet Angus Beef; and 80-percent lean Gourmet Beef.
The products are merchandised in modified atmosphere packaging. Each burger is five ounces, with four burgers per pack and six packs per case.
